Director of Major Gifts: The Chicago School

As an innovator in mental health education, The Chicago School seeks a Director of Major Gifts to help their university expand into integrated health through the College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM), the first new Chicago medical school in 100 years.

The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, goal-oriented, collaborative, and excited to be at the forefront of building equity in healthcare. This individual should be passionate about the proposed IllinoisCOM's work and mission and the opportunity to build a fundraising program from its infancy. The requirements for this position include:

  • A breadth of hands-on fundraising experience that will support successful implementation across all areas of advancement
  • Effective communication skills
  • A passion for education, mental health, medicine, and social equity
  • The ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

About the Position

Innovative Fundraising
The Director of Major Gifts will identify and build a portfolio of campaign prospects and outreach strategies using demographics, donor behavior, and other considerations while integrating best practices to achieve campaign success.

Strategic Leadership
The Director of Major Gifts will oversee the completion of major gift campaigns that include individual, corporate, and foundation donors. The Director will review reports, perform research, and report to/collaborate with the University President, Associate Vice President, Institutional Advancement, and the proposed IllinoisCOM's Dean and leadership team.

Impactful Networking
The Director of Major Gifts will build and strengthen relationships with The Chicago School's staff and individuals who have a vested interest in the school's goals and mission. Alongside the proposed IllinoisCOM's faculty, the Director will identify and pursue funding opportunities, allowing them to travel to meet with prospects and donors.
