John Michael Kohler Arts Center (JMKAC) is a world-renowned museum in Sheboygan, WI, recognized for presenting the work of self-taught and contemporary artists in artist-built environments that provide an immersive experience. JMKAC seeks a Director of Development to build a best-practice fundraising program to support immediate and long-term growth and promote a culture of philanthropy.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a confident, self-directed leader with an inclusive and open-minded approach to collaboration and team building, eager to build on the organization’s long history, strong reputation, and deep community relationships to energize fundraising efforts.
Responsibilities
Inspired Leadership and Development Oversight
- Lead and supervise the development team
- Set annual qualitative and quantitative goals aligned with the multi-year fundraising plan
- Oversee fundraising programs and operations, including database and moves management systems
Donor Portfolio Management and Strategy
- Manage a portfolio of major gift donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors
- Qualify donors as potential leadership prospects for the executive director
- Support and advise the executive director and key staff in setting strategies and overseeing moves management for major gifts
Strategy Development and Board Engagement
- Develop a multi-year fundraising growth strategy
- Establish an annual fundraising plan with goals, objectives, benchmarks, and metrics
- Serve as the liaison to the board of directors, staff the board development committee, and provide fundraising updates and data
